I was told to be a Leggiero tenor by a teacher. How do I properly train my voice to sound like a tenor?

You are unable to alter the basic timbre of your voice to sound more "tenor-like." Tenors like Lauritz Melchior and Ramon Vinay were baritones and retained the baritone-like timbre of their voices, even when they sang the tenor repertoire.
