Other than the forearm, where can bloodwork be done on your body?

I have a horrible fear of needles going into my forearm. I have been like that since I was younger. I need to get blood taken to check my thyroid, because my doctor thinks there could be something wrong with it. Is there anywhere else on the body that they can take blood? Why does it have to be the inside of the arm?
